Text to speech without uploading your text
Choose a Natural Voice. That speech is generated on the phone, and the text is not uploaded. The app still uses the internet to list voice packs, download a pack, play a preview before installation, and show ads. A System voice is handed to your Android engine, which may be online.
What stays on the phone
When you select a Natural Voice, the model that speaks is the one you downloaded. The text in the editor is turned into audio on the device. Saved clips, the voice name, your settings, and the voice files sit in the app’s private storage. The app does not ask for your name or email, and there is no account.
The in-app licenses screen says the same thing in short form: speech is generated on the phone, and your text is not uploaded.
What can still leave the phone
“On device” does not mean the app never uses the network. These are the connections described in the privacy policy:
- Voice pack catalog. The app can check which packs are available when it starts.
- The download itself. Tapping Download fetches the voice files. The request does not include your text.
- A preview before install. Playing a sample before the pack is on the phone streams that sample.
- Ads. The app is free and uses Google AdMob. That SDK uses an advertising ID, approximate location from the IP address, and ad interactions. You can reset the advertising ID in Android settings.
- System voices. If you pick System, the text goes to the engine in your Android settings. Some of those engines use online voices. Their own policy applies.
The full account is the privacy policy. Deleting clips, packs, or the whole app is covered on the data deletion page.
How to keep a particular clip local
- Download Natural Voices on a connection you trust, ideally Wi-Fi.
- Select a natural voice, not System.
- Paste the text and tap Speak or Save.
- Leave the resulting file in History, or share it yourself. The app does not post it.
After the pack is installed, you can turn on airplane mode and still speak with that voice. That is the practical test that the text is not being sent out to be spoken.
What this does not mean
- It does not mean the app is free of ads. It is supported by ads.
- It does not mean a System voice is private in the same way. Check the engine in Android settings if that distinction matters.
- It does not mean Android backup is off. If device backup is on, the phone may include the app’s settings and history in your Google account backup. That backup is controlled by the phone account, not by a PubNexus login.

Questions
Is every voice in the app on-device?
Natural Voices are, after you download them. A System voice uses the Android text-to-speech engine you selected, and that engine can use an online voice.
Do voice downloads include the text I typed?
No. Pack requests and previews are file downloads. They do not include the text in the editor. Ads are handled by Google AdMob and are separate from your text.
