Text to Speech

Privacy policy

Your text is turned into speech on your phone and is never uploaded. This page explains, in plain language, the small amount of information the app, its voice downloads, and its ads handle.

02What stays on your phone

Text you type or paste is turned into speech on your device. With Natural Voices, a neural voice model downloaded to the app does all the work offline, so your text is never sent to us or to anyone else.

  • Saved clips and history (the text snippet, voice name, and the WAV or MP3 file) are stored in the app's private storage until you delete them.
  • Settings such as your theme, chosen voice, and speed are stored on the phone.
  • Voice packs you download are stored in the app so voices keep working without the internet.

03Built-in Android voices

If you choose a System voice, the app passes your text to the text-to-speech engine selected in your Android settings (for example, Speech Services by Google). That engine is provided by your phone maker or Google, not by us, and its own privacy policy applies. Some engines can use online voices; you can change this in Android Settings under text-to-speech output.

04Voice downloads and previews

The app connects to our servers only for these things:

  • Checking the list of available voice packs when the app starts.
  • Downloading a voice pack when you tap Download.
  • Playing a voice preview when you tap Play before a pack is installed.

These files are hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare receives standard request information, such as your IP address, device type, the time, and the file requested, to deliver the file and protect the service from abuse. These requests never include your text. We do not use this information to identify you or build a profile.

05Ads

The app is free and supported by ads from Google AdMob. The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares the following for advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention:

  • Approximate location estimated from the device IP address
  • App interactions, such as app launches and taps on ads
  • Diagnostic information about app and SDK performance
  • Device or other identifiers, including the Android advertising ID and app set ID

This data is encrypted in transit. Google processes it under its own policies; see how Google uses information from apps that use its services. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in Android Settings under Google, then Ads.

06Permissions and what the app does not touch

  • Internet is used for voice downloads, previews, and ads.
  • Network state is used to check for Wi-Fi when "Wi-Fi only downloads" is on.
  • Clipboard is read only when you tap Paste, and only to put that text in the editor.
  • Sharing a clip sends the audio file only to the app you pick in the share sheet.

The app does not access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, precise location, or files outside its own storage.

07Device backups

If Android backup is turned on, your phone may include the app's settings and saved history in your device backup to your Google account. This is managed by Google under your account settings, and we cannot see it.

08What we do not collect or sell

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise GPS location, health data, or financial information. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your text for training or analytics.

09Keeping and deleting your data

  • Delete one clip, or use Clear all, in History.
  • Delete a voice pack in the Voices tab.
  • Remove everything at once with Android Settings, then Apps, then Text to Speech, then Clear storage, or by uninstalling the app.

Request information held by Cloudflare is kept only as long as needed to run and secure the service. Ad data is kept by Google under its retention policies. See how to delete your data for details.

10Security

Voice packs and previews are downloaded over encrypted HTTPS, and each voice pack is checked with a SHA-256 checksum before it is installed. Your clips are stored in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read.

11Children

Text to Speech is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will help remove it.

12Your rights

Depending on where you live, including India (Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023), the EU and UK (GDPR), and California (CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to certain processing, and to raise a complaint with a data protection authority. Because the app keeps your content on your phone, most requests can be handled with the steps above. For anything else, including ad-related data, email us and we will respond within 30 days.

13Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's store listing.
